In 2022 we celebrated ten years as an organization! Ten years of providing tailored, individualized scholarships to help fill the gap between talent and opportunities for folks in Mexico and Guatemala.

At our annual board meeting, we reflected on all we've accomplished at BTGI. Together we've funded high school AND university scholarships for four individuals. Five others have received high school scholarships. Two young men in Mexico were awarded vocational school scholarships. Another two received their adult education equivalency for middle school. We've provided children's books and school supplies yearly for twelve young children whose parents struggle with the costs of keeping them in school. BTGI grants were given to start several businesses including a corner store, three different taxi services, and an art studio! We partnered with five families to improve their housing.

We've provided holistic care by funding medical operations, life-saving medications, emergency medical care, glasses, dental care and COVID relief to help alleviate the suffering of many. More than one person has told us that they would not be alive today if it wasn't for BTGI's grant in the face of great medical need. Over the years more than 45 people have received scholarships through BTGI, and many more have benefited from the ripple effects of hard work and financial investment. 

Besides the tangible results of our work, scholarship recipients and volunteers have benefited by our foundational principle of creating mutually life-giving relationships with those we serve. People who have felt overlooked have been seen and cared for through the work of the board and volunteers.
