We work to fight the root causes of poverty and injustice. We foster mutually life-giving friendships with those we serve, empowering them to develop their gifts so that they may become thriving and contributing members of their communities. Our desire is to see our friends free from the suffering of injustice and enjoying life in all its fullness.
What We Do
We provide customized scholarships tailored to recipients’ needs and talents to
empower them to break the cycle of poverty in their lives. BTGI representatives work
directly with recipients to identify local opportunities and leverage funding and other
resources for educational scholarships, small-business loans, and more.
Who We Serve
We serve individuals and families with limited financial resources residing in Mexico and
Guatemala, all of whom have unique talents and gifts to contribute to their families and communities.
What Makes Us Unique
Bridging the Gap International is unique amongst non-profits because board members
and in-country representatives cultivate intentional relationships with recipients, tailoring scholarships to the specific needs and resources of each person. BTGI board members
include those who have grown up in poverty in the majority world, and those who have
spent extensive time studying, working, and volunteering in majority contexts. Such
experience makes the organization uniquely equipped to effectively tackle poverty in all
its forms.
